We rebuild how Verder runs.

The Agent Factory is a newly established, independent team within the Verder Group, a global industrial manufacturer. We design, build, and scale intelligent software agents and automations that solve real operational challenges across the business. Agent Factory accelerates how ideas turn into impactful working solutions, from concept to deployment in real-world environments.

what we do

We ship.

We build, govern, and scale AI agents and automation across the Verder Group. Every workflow is a candidate. Fixing inefficient processes is half of it. The other half is going after what wasn't possible before.

what_we_do

What we do

We build AI agents and automations that solve real operational problems across Verder. Sometimes that means we own it end-to-end: process mapping, building, integrating, testing, and handing it over with monitoring in place.

what_we_dont_do

What we don't do

We don't build demos. We don't automate tasks that took two minutes. We don't ship without a baseline and a measurement plan. And we don't add AI where a rewritten workflow would do the job better.

how it works
01 — Map
Every step, every handoff, every spreadsheet, every manual workaround. Identify where time is lost.
02 — Build
Production-ready agents and automations that integrate across ERP, CRM, and APIs.
03 — Ship
Deployed into production. Embedded in the workflows teams rely on every day.
04 — Measure
Hours saved. Errors avoided. Throughput gained. If it didn't move a number, it didn't ship.
why this exists

Most companies fail at AI.

The tools work. The failure is bolting them onto processes that were already broken — and never asking whether those processes should exist at all.

failure mode 01

Shadow AI

Teams build unvetted agents outside IT governance. An agent with read/write access to sensitive data and no oversight is a liability. Not an asset.

failure mode 02

Demo syndrome

Shiny demos are celebrated internally. The retrospective on failure, when the agent stops working outside demo conditions, never gets the same airtime.

failure mode 03

The Solow paradox

Technology adoption doesn't automatically produce productivity gains. Without structured adoption, most AI spend creates the appearance of value, not the reality.

"The only limit is your imagination."

see it in action

What Agent Factory actually does.

A short explainer on how we work, what we build, and why Verder is doing this differently.

the team

Relentless problem solvers, driven by real outcomes.

The people here figure things out, build independently, and care about whether it actually worked.

Nina
Operations Manager
An operator at heart. Makes things happen and moves fast. Knows the group inside and out. Leading the Agent Factory from the ground up.
Arjun
AI Engineer
Built and sold Kandua after a decade making things work for tradespeople across South Africa. Bailed on academia to build real things. Now obsessed with LLMs and what comes after the hype.
Frank
AI Designer
Our eyes and ears across the European offices. TU Delft engineer, 6 years as data analyst at Picnic Technologies. Data-driven, process-obsessed.
Massimo
AI Engineer
In-house IT specialist and builder. Comes from a deep IT background: if it needs to be built, integrated, or fixed, Massimo already has a plan. Nothing is too difficult.

Cape Town Full-time July 2026 2–5 yrs exp

AI Engineer

Is this you?

You automate everything: your workflows, your team's workflows, your own life. In fact, it's probably your Agent reading this (Hi 👋). You're equally comfortable mapping a messy business workflow on a whiteboard and writing the Python that replaces it. And you're experienced enough to do all of that by hand, but who does that in 2026?

Who we are

Verder is a multinational manufacturer of scientific equipment and pumps operating across 85 entities globally. We're launching a new, independent team to redesign how the group runs in an AI-native way.

This is a from-zero team inside an established business, reporting directly to the board. We move like garage entrepreneurs: small, hands-on, fast. But what we build has a direct path to scale across a global organisation.

The role

You'll find the workflows that slow operations down and replace them with something better. That means understanding a process end-to-end, designing the automation, writing the code, integrating the systems, and making sure the people who relied on the old way actually adopt the new one.

Python · JS LLM APIs Integration tooling ERP · CRM

What you'll ship

  • Spot growth opportunities by mapping business processes and identifying where AI automation scales impact
  • Design, prototype, and ship automation solutions using LLM APIs, scripts, and integration tooling — with clean, tested, maintainable code
  • Build and maintain integrations between APIs, ERP/CRM systems, and operational platforms
  • Monitor live automations, fix what breaks, and iterate based on what teams actually need
  • Work directly with operational teams: communicate solutions to non-technical stakeholders and drive adoption
  • Stay current with the AI and automation ecosystem: evaluate what's worth adopting and what's noise
  • Report on business impact: capabilities unlocked, hours saved, throughput gained

What you'll bring

You're a strong builder. You can take a vague operational problem and turn it into something working by the end of the week. You know the difference between a clever demo and a workflow that holds up in production.
  • 2–5 years in something adjacent: AI automation, solutions engineering, implementation consulting, technical product, RevOps, or startup generalist engineering
  • Comfortable in Python and/or JavaScript; used LLM APIs in real systems, not just notebooks
  • Makes good trade-offs and communicates them clearly and picks the simplest thing that works
  • Brings order to ambiguity. The fact that nobody has done this at Verder before energises you
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken

The traits we value most

You move fast without being reckless.
You prefer simple, maintainable systems over clever ones.
You take ownership and follow through.
You measure your work by business impact, not the size of the tech stack.

How we'll know it's working

  • Number and impact of automations shipped
  • New capabilities or markets unlocked
  • Hours saved per week for the teams you support
  • Reliability and uptime of live workflows
  • Adoption and satisfaction among operational teams
  • Speed from spotting a problem to shipping a working solution
